Millerods SwimFreak AU 782

Millerods SwimFreak AU 782

With this rod, we're excited to introduce Aussie anglers to the G-Clutch handle! Based on an innovative new reel seat design that is totally minimalist - in fact the reel seat has uninterrupted blank exposure underneath - which when coupled with this light weight blank means that sensitivity is off the charts! And there are absolutely no exposed locking hoods, nuts or threaded sections either. So it comes to hand so comfortably it’s actually difficult to feel where the handle finishes and the blank starts!

In the hand, this rod is light in weight with a super-easy casting action and an amazing balance point – this all creates a rod that is a pleasure to use with the big lures, even for long sessions.

This AU model has all the features we need in an Aussie swimbait rod; detachable handle makes for easy storing and transport, while the larger guide train comprises 2 foot titanium frames. These are more robust, large enough for easy leader knot passage, super light in weight and corrosion proof!

While it casts up to 70gm lures easily, this is not an overly powerful rod which makes it ideal for big fish in open water and we’ve done a lot of testing and development in the estuaries and inshore waters of the NSW coast. ‘Croc’ sized flatties and mulloway are the perfect target for the SwimFreak AU, and it’s ideal for all medium sized swimbaits, whether they are soft baits, hard baits, or deep sinking. (Also ideal for topwater too
)

In the freshwater, this rod has also been used for great success targeting Murray cod with smaller soft swimbaits, smaller glides and bibbed hard-bodied lures - and already racked up a tournament win! And it’s also a truly easy rod for casting spinnerbaits.

At 7’8” length, the SwimFreaK AU is enough rod to produce the long casts needed in open water, but also short enough to handle easier in small craft.

The multi-guide train features 12 guides plus tip-top. This further enhances the smooth action, easy casting of this custom blank which is a blend of graphites specifically selected to maximise performance across the applications Ian has designed this rod for.

The ergonomic G-Clutch handle also features extra-firm EVA to transfer energy and avoid hand fatigue, while the rounded EVA butt cap allows the angler to leverage the rod agains the body when fighting big fish. This is one heck of a weapon for the swimbait anglers!

Millerods recommends the use of the FG knot for connecting braided fishing lines to monofilament leaders. All Ian’s lure casting guide trains are selected with this connecting knot in mind.
