The Shimano SLX BFS represents the evolution of the popular SLX platform, purpose-built for anglers chasing ultimate finesse performance. Designed specifically for Bait Finesse System (BFS) fishing, this reel excels at casting ultra-light lures with precision, control and minimal effort.
At the heart of the SLX BFS is a newly engineered ultra-light, super shallow duralumin spool. With reduced inertia and a refined design, this spool allows anglers to cast extremely light lures—down to around 1g—with ease. The low trajectory casting capability enhances accuracy, making it ideal for targeting tight structure such as creeks, snags and overhanging cover.
Complementing the spool is Shimano’s FTB (Finesse Tune Brake) system, a centrifugal magnetic braking system that dynamically adjusts based on spool speed. This advanced braking system significantly reduces backlash while allowing smooth, controlled casting of lightweight lures, whether short accurate pitches or longer finesse casts.
Built on a rigid Hagane Body, the SLX BFS maintains strength and stability while remaining lightweight in hand. Internally, Shimano’s X-Ship technology ensures efficient power transfer and smooth winding, while the S3D balanced spool design minimises vibration for improved casting performance.
The reel is also equipped with a Carbon Cross Washer drag system, delivering smooth and consistent drag performance, complemented by an audible drag clicker for added feedback during the fight.
