The SLX BFS (available in both right- and left-handed versions) represents the rebirth of the popular SLX baitcaster, but now with greatly refined casting performance designed specifically to satisfy the highest demands of BFS (bait finesse system) fans, who demand a revolving drum reel capable of effectively casting the lightest lure weights available. A newly engineered ultra-light and super-shallow duralumin spool enables these very light weights to be cast using a low trajectory for enhanced accuracy, especially in tight corners. The efficiency of the FTB centrifugal magnetic braking system resists backlash and allows repeated long or short accurate casts to be performed smoothly. Other features, such as the lightweight but highly rigid HAGANE BODY and durable CARBON CROSS WASHER for smooth drag performance (with audible clicker) are also incorporated into the SLX BFS, making it perfect for finesse bait system (BFS) work in both salt and freshwater environments.

Both rods feature genuine Fuji Alconite guides configured in a weight-saving and torque-reducing spiral wrap design. They also sport Fuji skeleton reel seats and custom split grips. The shorter Shimano Ascenza BFS 602 model is best suited to small, tight and skinny waters where super accurate presentations are essential, while the longer 732 model is ideal in scenarios where anglers might need to punch out a longer cast to reach the prime spots. Kairiki 8 from Shimano adopts the new VT construction braiding technology. Featuring 8 carriers and incorporating premium Japanese manufacturing, the new tight weave VT construction is created through applying high tension at opposing directions during the braiding process. During the VT Construction Method, the braid fibre is woven evenly at all angles â resulting in a smoother finish and reduced diameter. The casting performance of the line is significantly improved as the smooth finish creates less friction through the guides and cast noise is also reduced. The tight weave achieves enhanced sensitivity achieved through the lower stretch. These attributes make Kairiki 8 an excellent choice when high sensitivity and castability are all required to give that extra edge against your target species.
